Smarter Balanced Assessment

Smarter Balanced Practice Test

ONLINE PRACTICE TESTS FOR MATHEMATICS AND ENGLISH LANGUAGE ARTS/LITERACY

Mathematics and ELA Practice Tests for Grades 3-8 and 11 are available on the Practice Test page of the Smarter Balanced Web site.  The purpose of the Practice Tests is to:

  • Provide an opportunity for teachers, students, parents, and other stakeholders to experience the features of online testing

  • Provide insight into how Smarter Balanced will assess students' mastery of the Common Core State Standards

 

Connecticut Academic Performance Test (CAPT)

The CAPT is administered to all Sophomores in the areas of math, science, reading and writing in the Spring.  Juniors and Seniors who have not met the criteria to pass the CAPT are encouraged to retest.

 

Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT)

The SAT is generally taken in the Spring of the Junior year and/or in the Fall of the Senior year.  Students need to self-register for this test.

 

Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test (PSAT)

The PSAT is administered to all 10th grade students in the Fall and paid for by the Shelton Board of Education.  Juniors may self-register to take this test.

 

OTIS Lennon (OLSAT)

The OLSAT is administered to students in grades 4 and 5.  This is a standard IQ test and is administered to students in the Spring.

 

Language Assessment Scales (LAS)

The LAS is administered at all levels to English Language Learners in the Spring.
