Pre-Kindergarten Programming
The Shelton PreK program is a special education program, designed to provide special education services to students ages 3 and 4 who live in Shelton and are identified as having a disability. We open up spots in each of the 3's and 4's classrooms for typical peers to participate, at no cost (except parents must provide transportation). Each year we take applications in the Spring, and then hold a screening process for typical peer candidates. We will accept applications throughout the school year. We use the CT Early Learning Development Standards to identify those candidates who might serve as strong language, behavioral, and social skill models for disabled peers in the class.
Our preschool is a language based program, and we follow the CT Early Learning Development Standards in our instruction. Click here for more information about these standards: CT early learning development standards.pdf

Typical Peer 2021-2022 School Year
Shelton Public Schools provides a preschool program for students aged 3-4 who qualify for special education services. We are currently seeking typically developing peers to serve as role models in both our AM & PM classes for the 2021-22 school year. To be considered for the program, your child must turn 3 or 4 by December 31, 2021. Applications will be accepted throughout the year. All children will be screened in the Spring at Mohegan School or a mutually agreed time. The tentative date for the pre-school screening is Wednesday, May 19th. Parents will not be allowed in the school building. Children will come in the building for a short screening in groups of three. Face masks will be required. Please call Mohegan School at (203)929-4121. Please speak to Ms. Rago who will schedule your timeslot. Applications can be found on the Shelton Public School website or you may contact Kim Rago at krago@sheltonpublicschools.org.
