Wed, November 5, 2008 at 2:00AM

In an attempt to ensure that students from other districts are not attending the Shelton Public Schools illegally, a reporting hotline has been established effective immediately.  Anyone with reason to believe that a young person attending one of the Shelton Public Schools does not live in Shelton is asked to make an anonymous report to the Assistant Superintendent’s office at 924-1023 ext. 306.  The caller should give as many details as possible.  All calls will be thoroughly investigated by the district’s outreach worker.  Any students found to be attending illegally will be mandated to return to their home schools.

Volunteers Needed at SIS!

Tue, April 24, 2007 at 1:00AM

Dear Parents/Guardians,

You are a vital part of our school community. You have much to offer our students in the way of professional knowledge, and we would like to incorporate your expertise within our school curriculum.

In an effort to increase parental and community involvement in our school, we are compiling a bank of people who would available during the school day to share their knowledge. We are looking for people to either talk about their job responsibilities and how they relate to a particualr subject or teach a lesson based on something they do in their job that relates to the curriculum. For example, if you work in a hospital lab, you could either speak about your profession in general or come in and teach a lesson on cells, which is part of the 7th grade science curriculum.

It is very easy to become a member of our Volunteer Resource Bank. Simply take a few minutes to fill out the survey (link below). The questions are tailored to your preferences so that workable accommodations for all can be made. Once the information is compiled, details of your visit would be worked out and you would be contacted by an interested staff member.

As you can see, this will be a valuable resource for our school community. Our children will benefit immensely from the real world experience you can offer them. Also, if you know of an extended family member or friend whose knowledge you think would be an asset to our children, please consider encouraging them to fill out our survey.

Thank you for your willingness to volunteer and share in the education of our children.

Take our survey here.
