November 26th - Parent Visitation Day
We cordially invite you to attend Parent Visitation at Mohegan School on November 26, 2013. This is an opportunity for you to observe actual instructional time in your child’s classroom. In December we will have parent teacher conferences, where you will discuss your children and the instructional program. The Parent Visitation will allow you to visit for 30 Minutes. Specific times for each grade level will be scheduled to minimize disruptions to the classroom instruction. Please check the schedule below for your child’s time.
KAM 9:45 - 10:15
Grade 1 10:15 - 10:45
Grade 2 9:45 - 10:15
Grade 3 11:30 - 12:00

Please do not photograph or video record the children, as this is distracting and may conflict with the confidentiality of our students. Also, please leave younger children at home, and do not visit any other children unless it is their scheduled time.
Please review the Mohegan School Visitor and Dismissal Policies below.
Doors will open at 8:55 am. Students should be in their seats by 9:10 am for the start of the school day.
Please review our Morning Drop Off Procedures here.
Absences From School
All student absences are to be called into the nurse at 203-929-4121 as the absentee line is no longer available. Each absence from school requires both a phone call to the school on the day of the absence and a note the day the child returns to school for the child’s file. If a child is absent for more than three consecutive days, a note is needed from the child’s physician.
Mohegan School welcomes all families. When planning a visit to Mohegan School it is highly recommended that you contact the Main Office or your child’s classroom teacher to arrange for an appointment prior to your visit. This will ensure that we are available to answer your questions with the least amount of disruption to the day
School policy requires that ALL visitors enter through the main entrance and sign in at the main office. If you are dropping off items for your child such as books, notebooks, lunch money or cupcakes, you will be asked to leave them in the main office. The teacher will be notified and determine an appropriate time in the daily lessons to arrange for pick up.
Mohegan School’s dismissal policy requires that a note be sent in for any changes to your child’s regular dismissal. Due to the overwhelming number of dismissal changes handled by the office each day, we will NOT ACCEPT ANY CHANGES TO YOUR CHILD’S DISMISSAL AFTER 11:30 AM. Notes, Emails and faxes are accepted prior to 11:30 am. Changes will only be accepted on an emergency basis after 11:30 am and must be approved by the Principal on an individual basis.
Late day dismissals cause undue stress and confusion for your child and staff. Many times children forget the dismissal change even when reminded by their teacher. These policies are in place to ensure the safety of our students. Thank you for your cooperation and adhering to this important dismissal policy.
Dismissal is at 11:58 (AM Kindergarten) and 3:40 pm. AM Kindergarten is dismissed in the front of the school. PM Parent pickup dismissals are from the cafeteria. Please use the entrance located at the back of the building. If you are picking your child up from school please remember to always have your identification with you. If your child is being released to someone other than yourself you must send in a note stating the person’s name. They must show their ID to staff on duty when picking your child up. We will not release your child to someone that is not on the dismissal list. This is for your child’s safety!
Mohegan School Hours for the 2013 - 2014 School Year will be 9:10 to 3:40
Respect, Responsibility, Safety
The mission of our school is to provide a learning environment where members of the Mohegan family grow academically, socially and physically. Let us dedicate ourselves daily to foster individual growth and happiness so that each of us may be a positive force in our society.
The Mohegan School staff is dedicated to providing the best possible education for your children. This year Mohegan School is working on reading comprehension as a school goal. Each classroom is busy working on reading comprehension every day. We are also working on all areas of the curriculum including writer’s workshop, guided reading, science, social studies and a math program that is aligned with the Connecticut frameworks.
