Connecticut Mastery Testing (CMT) will be given in March to students in grades three and four.  Our teachers and support staff are earnestly working with students in all areas of the CMT - reading, writing, and mathematics.  All assessment data continues to be analyzed to plan instruction, and the progress of every student is being monitored to ensure performance growth.  Instruction is being differentiated to promote student achievement with focus on small group instruction.  Teachers are preparing their lessons to make all learning meaningful for our students so that they can articulate what they are learning, why they are learning it, and the real-world application for what they are learning.  We will all continue to work diligently throughout the year to incorporate the most effective teaching strategies in our instruction to promote understanding and learning.

All students must continue to read at home as part of their homework each night to support our reading goal.  In addition, please practice math facts with your children to facilitate math calculation.  Let your children see you reading and using math in your everyday activities.  It is our hope that this year we will have great CMT results to reflect teachers’ and students’ hard work.  My gratitude to all for your continued support of instruction at Long Hill.
