From the Principal…
January 2012
Dear E.S.S. Families,
It’s difficult to believe, but we are almost halfway through the school year. So much learning has taken place already with much more yet to come. There have also been many wonderful activities provided by funds from the PTO for our students.
With the school year approaching the midpoint, we will soon begin making plans for the 2012-2013 academic year, which includes the assignment of students to classrooms. The staff and I devote much time and thought to create the optimal learning experience for all students. Therefore, at conference time I am suggesting that you discuss with the teacher the following regarding your child: his/her particular learning style, areas of strength and those needing improvement or to emphasize a specific need or experience based on firsthand knowledge. All of this information will assist us to make sound educational decisions. Parental requests for specific teacher placements will not be considered.
The Shelton Fire Department sponsors a local competition for all schools in conjunction with the State sponsored fire prevention poster contest for 4th and 5th graders. I am pleased to announce that Reem Abdel-Hack and Benjamin Gilmore will be representing Elizabeth Shelton School as 4th graders in the Citywide Contest that will be held at City Hall on Wednesday, February 1st. Congratulations to both of you!
