The Connecticut Mastery Tests (CMT) and the Connecticut Academic Performance Test (CAPT), will be administered in accordance with the state testing window set to begin on Monday March 5th, 2012.

Selected test sections in the areas of Reading, Writing, Mathematics and Science will be administered by grade level on certain dates according to the 2012 CMT  and CAPT schedules.  Every effort will be made to adhere to the published schedules.

Families in our school community will be receiving letters from their school administrators which will draw attention to this very important testing program.

As a parent, you can help your child perform more successfully in school, as well as on these tests, by:

• Making sure your child is present and on time for school on each day of testing;
• Making sure if your child wears reading glasses, that they are in school on all testing days;
• Getting your child a good night’s rest each night before a test;
• Making sure your child eats a nutritious breakfast each morning;
• Trying to ensure that your child has a calm start to the school day before testing;
• Setting high expectations for your child, so that your child knows that you think the tests are important;
• Encouraging your child to work for the full time allowed on each test;
• Letting your child know that there is no reason to be anxious or scared; you will be proud, as long as the results represent his or her best effort.
