ImPACT Test information
The Shelton Athletic Department is proud to announce that all Shelton High School student athletes are now required to take the ImPACT concussion management baseline test before participating in athletics.
The ImPACT Test is a baseline computer test that measures reaction time, memory and cognitive assessment. The test is given to athletes before participating in a sport. There is no cost for the test. The results of the test are confidentially stored on a secure computer server and are only released to a students doctor or athletic trainer in the event that an athlete receives a concussion during play.
The results of a post concussion test are then measured against the original baseline test to help the medical professionals determine a correct course of treatment for the concussion. Additional ImPACT tests can be administered by the schools athletic trainer in the event of a concussion.
Students need only to be tested once during their high school career to determine a sufficient baseline. The tests will be administered by the Athletic trainer in a controlled environment before the season begins.
