Creating Musical Readers

The New Haven Symphony Orchestra will be offering an educational series Creating Musical Readers in the Shelton Elementary Schools during the month of May and June. This program is generously supported by Newtown Savings Bank.

NHSO violinist Judi McDermott-Eggert brings the children’s story Mole Music to life! As she reads the story of Mole to students at Shelton’s elementary schools, they learn about Mole’s love of music, how he came to play the violin, and how he believes music can change the world! Students listen to the story and hear excerpts of Mole’s music as Judi plays her violin. This interactive 30-minute program focuses on literacy and the power of music in Mole’s life and the lives of each student.

Shelton High School Graduation Announced

Shelton High School will hold their graduation ceremony for the Class of 2012 on Monday, June 11, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. in Finn Stadium. In case of inclement weather - the ceremony will be held on Tuesday, June 12, 2012 - rain or shine. More information will be posted on the SHS webpage.

NOTICE OF DESTRUCTION OF RECORDS

In accordance with Shelton Statutes, Policies and Procedures regarding Student Records, the following is being given:

The Shelton Board of Education will destroy confidential records which are maintained in the Office of Curriculum & Support services for students born in the years 1978, 1979, 1980 & 1981 and who received special education and/or related services. Those individuals who wish to review or receive copies of their records should contact the Special Education Office, 382 Long Hill Avenue, Shelton, Ct 06484, email: danderson@sheltonpublicschools.org or call 203.924.1023 x 350.

Hotline Established

In an attempt to ensure that students from other districts are not attending the Shelton Public Schools illegally, a reporting hotline has been established effective immediately. Anyone with reason to believe that a young person attending one of the Shelton Public Schools does not live in Shelton is asked to make an anonymous report to the Assistant Superintendent’s office at 924-1023 ext. 306. The caller should give as many details as possible. All calls will be thoroughly investigated by the district’s outreach worker. Any students found to be attending illegally will be mandated to return to their home schools.
